Who We Are

At Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP), we're more than just a business—we're a team on a mission. Our work impacts communities, drives innovation, and fuels sustainable growth. We believe in collaboration, integrity, and making a real difference in the world. We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer who shares our vision and is eager to play a key role in shaping our future.

We believe finance is more than just numbers—it empowers people, shapes culture, and fuels our mission. As our Chief Financial Officer, you'll play a critical role in ensuring financial sustainability, driving smart decision-making, and fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Chief Financial Officer, you'll be at the heart of our team—leading by example with a hands-on approach, supporting a high-performing finance function, and helping shape our future with clear, strategic financial insight. Reporting to the COO, you'll guide strategic decisions, offer clear financial insight, and help us move forward with confidence through both opportunities and challenges.

  • Financial leadership: Leading our finance function hands-on with vision and integrity, including accounting; cash management; budgeting; forecasting; financial reporting; planning; business modeling and analysis; grant accounting, reporting, and financial compliance; and tax reporting. Maintain strong internal controls, policies, and procedures, and ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant tax and corporate regulations.
  • Strategic growth: Partner with senior leaders, division heads, and program directors to drive strategic decision-making and align financial strategies with organizational goals. Collaborte with the Development Team on proposal budgets, donor reports, and evaluation of new funding opportunities. Work closely with the People & Culture Director on staff compensation planning and related financial impacts.
  • Team leadership: Lead and inspire high-performing finance, systems, and IT support teams, fostering a culture of transparency, professional growth, and collaboration.
  • Optimize financial systems: Serve as owner and hands-on subject-matter expert for SFP's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and financial systems. Lead the migration, implementation, and optimization of financial platforms (e.g., Unanet GovCon ERP). Continuously identify opportunities for improvement and implement best-in-class processes to deliver accurate, timely, and reliable data for decision-making.
  • Risk and compliance: Ensure financial sustainability, effective risk management, corporate insurance coverage, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Review contracts to ensure compliance with audit and reporting requirements, and contribute financial insights to organizational strategy, long-term objectives, and corporate governance.
  • Additional leadership: Serve as the primary financial advisor to the Board of Directors and the Finance/Audit Committee, providing regular reports, analyses, and recommendations. Contribute to shaping SFP's global strategy and financial priorities while managing other administrative matters and special projects as needed.
